Study to Show “What”?
Jun 22nd, 2008 by Randy Toman
Students should be in school to receive truth, not to discuss and debate what they think is right, still less to originate ideas of their own rebellion. Independent judgment is to be developed, but that was to be the process of years: the immediate need of a student is to learn and to grasp an authoritative presentation of truth and historical fact.
The following quotes come from Doug Graves article Page A9 of “The Bethlehem Press” June 11,2008
“A Passion that no one will Fail”.
“ Bethlehem Area School District Superintendents’ Cabinet” met May 29th to set goals for the district.”
The cabinet had 5 members shown in picture sitting at the table. These 5 members total salary were $579,000 as per the article. I tell you this because these people command a manager’s salary and what these managers put in place as goals for the Bethlehem School District is what I’m questioning. These leaders presented an extensive list of goals for the 2008-2010, here is just part of what was listed and talked about in the newspaper article.
“ The curriculum and instruction goal listed numerous intermediate objectives to include rigor/relevance/relationship and incorporation of interventions. — smaller learning communities, complete realignment of high school curriculum —.”
Complete realignment of high school curriculum—-that sounds like an interesting idea. What do you think will come out of that?
“Under the goal of building capable leaders the cabinet has objectives like inclusion leadership, leading for rigor and grouping for achievement.”
Now I ask you whatever happened to the ABC’s along with and including Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic and good old fashion concern for teaching truth, ethic standards, morals that equip the student to deal with world problems. What happen to all of that? You tell me.
Those 5 individuals should be ashamed of presenting something that represents (In my mind) a total lack of understanding of the nature of learning and the problem. The contrast between what those 5 members presented as direction to truth and Biblical truth is scary and shows me we have more then a serious problem with future leadership.
Let me show you a sure way to learn.
2nd Timothy 2:15 King James Bible
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
And this:
Psalms 119:18
“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.”
You 5 members will answer for what you are and/or have done to the learning process, if you don’t answer to the parents, you will answer to the judge of all the earth one day Jesus Christ. So not to worry parents there is justice and Hell is real. I didn’t even mention the cost of this failing enterprise through yet higher school tax. I ask you what is to be done, if anything? Maybe the question is I’m wrong and not to worry, there is really nothing wrong let those mangers guide our children, and the politicians tax us yet more to help correct the problem that isn’t. You parents must decide what is wrong, if anything, and stand in the gap.
