Jobs, Gray, Black or Green?

I remember from back in the 50’s, how the cement mills in the LV area would let out cement dust into the atmosphere, especially at night. Cars would get covered and the dew would mix with the cement dust and harden when the sun came out. We would have to use vinegar to dissolve the hard cement coating when we washed our cars. The fruit bearing trees would get covered and the fruit would have to be peeled before consumption. It was common to see people sweeping the cement dust from the sidewalks in the morning, every morning. They would complain and rightfully so. Then in the 60’s, political correctness would creep in and the environmental people would insert themselves into the discussions of what to do about the dust problem. They decided to force the cement mills to put dust collectors on the stacks. This was very expensive and the mills started losing money. Many of the mills eventually closed down and foreign countries started bidding on the mills. One of these was France. When many of the workers lost their jobs, the families complained and many of these people were the same people that complained about the cement dust. Unfortunate!
Now the new environmental problem is coal! Obama wants to close down the mines for “cleaner” power. This will cause many job losses in PA and other coal producing states. During his campaign, he said:
“If somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can,” Obama said in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle. “It’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.”
No one wants pollution but most want jobs. It’s up to the people to decide, not Obama! Here is an article about what Obama wants to do.
