Can Anyone Find Me a Church?
Jul 7th, 2008 by Randy Toman
Our family has over the last 6-8 weeks been seeking to locate a church that is closer to our home. With gas going up as it has, the round trip mileage being just short of 40 miles, and with two trips to church on a Sunday it quickly added up to 80 miles worth of gas for the day.
Church hopping for the last weeks have been both disappointing and a real eye opener. Disappointing for us in that what we found was less then sound doctrine and what I have come to call fluff and puff Theology with emotionalism running ramped. The watering down of Biblical teaching in the Church’s we have visited must be said to be in direct proportion to the rise of Paganism, Secular Humanism, and outright Heathenism we see in society today.
The sadness of this discovery (which in reality I knew) was and has been shocking to see, when seen up front and close. The problem of this reality is compounded when I was confronted with the gentleness and cordial greetings of the people of the church we visited. I will confess in none of the visits did I confront the pastor with regards to the less then Biblical teaching he was expounding from the pulpit. In all cases the pastor appeared to have a friend type personality and acted the part of a people person, making it difficult to say anything to refute his borderline heretically spewing forth of niceties and stories.
My wife and I had the 40+ years of marriage debate on the way home, they (the pastors) know they are doing wrong or no they don’t know they are doing wrong discussion. Do they (the people) or don’t they realize-know, there is much more to the Emotionalism and feel-good-ism that is tickling their ears. The seriousness of Scripture must be taken into consideration and that is just were the failing is.
It is much easier to be Mr. Nice Guy or Ms. Nice Women, why make a serious point about anything that might raise the issue of contention. This being Mr. Nice Guy in all situations has been taught to the point of perversion of the Gospel and Biblical teaching. John the Baptist knew what to call the boys that came out to see what he was doing. Jesus Christ knew in all cases what to say to the Jews who confronted him and don’t tell me he was not contentious in his confrontation. In all case it was confrontational to the point they wanted to kill him and they finally did. I would say that was sticking to your guns regardless were the truth takes you.
I’m talking about what I saw and hear on our visitations to the different Church’s but you could apply it to our leaders there in Washington and to the Republican leadership. Wouldn’t it be better to hear truth coming from our politicians rather then niceties, stories and Heretical nonsense of falseness, along with half truths and lies? (To drill or not to drill for one) Between the Church’s and the Politicians if we continue to hear these platitudes of niceties and political correctness we shall see the citizens and the country go to you know were—and in a hand basket no less—the head anyway.
Psalms 11:3 King James Bible
“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
Psalms 14:1 King James Bible
“The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”
