Divide or Unify?
Feb 12th, 2012 by The Outsider
Several hundred years ago, the Catholic church divided because some of the clergy didn’t agree with the dogma of their church or of the Pope. Martin Luther was the most famous example. He was also very anti-semitic! There are now, several hundred denominations of Christian churches!
Instead of being unified in our basic beliefs of what Christianity is and which church has it right, we are divided! If the problems would have been resolved within the Catholic church back in the early 1500’s, would we as Christians be better off? Probably so!
I believe we have the same problem with our political beliefs. If we could resolve our problems internally within the party, there would be no need to divide or to start a new political party movement. Starting a new party to “get back at” the old party, may not be the answer! Changing the party from within is a better solution when possible. If that can not be achieved, chaos may erupt, internal fighting will be everywhere and the final result will not bring the results we want because there will be different “ideals”. The history of the Catholic and all Christian churches should prove that point!
Many times, we all want the same goals but have different ideas on how to achieve our goals. This is why we have two political parties! One party says the people should rule and the other wants the government to rule. One believes the people are smart enough to rule themselves and the other thinks we are not. One thinks our freedoms come from them and the other says that our freedoms are God given! As a Christian conservative, that is my perception of the way it should be. What happened?
It is up to us to elect the politicians who will support our beliefs! If a politician has no faith in God, how can that person believe our freedoms come from God but from man instead? A person that has no faith in God can not be unified simply because his or her beliefs trump all others! Our God is the only One that can hold all of us together but we must believe in God first!
Many would say that politics must be void of all talk of God and church! Talk maybe, but our belief in what is moral and leads us to form our thoughts and guides us, has to come from somewhere. What we have had in politics, public schools, most universities and the entertainment industry for many years now is the absence of Godly principles and look what we have! A government with uncertainty and with no moral compass to guide them! And yet, they want to lead us? Wake up America!
