Have We Fallen? I Think So.
Jun 12th, 2008 by Randy Toman
We have lost the standard by which we must judge the liberty we once had. If we cannot gain that standard back we cannot look on our fall and determine the distance to be gained back so as to enjoy liberty. And with out an enquiry into the nature of liberty itself there is no reality of distance fallen nor what it is we are to be seeking. One man thinking freedom is so and expecting the collective group to be enjoying that which he calls freedom/liberty does not obtain this liberty.
The Jews under Roman rule said to the Roman rulers; “They were never under bondage to anyone…” and it got so obnoxious and contentious that the Roman army under Titus pulled the city of Jerusalem a part building block by building block in 70 AD, destroying it and the Jewish nation.
So don’t keep telling me we have freedom here in this country because sane men are starting to question the definition of freedom and/or liberty. And in case you haven’t noticed the country is already being taken apart building block by building block. So what have we or are we loosing in this disappearing freedom and/or liberty.
Nathaniel Niles (1741-1821) preached a sermon 1774 Newburyport, Mass. In which he said;
“Civil liberty consists, not in any, inclinations of the members of a community, but in the being and due administration of such a system of laws, as effectually tends to the greatest felicity of a state.”
He went on to say.
“Where there is no system of laws, not liberty, but anarchy takes place.”
Liberty under good government is not what we have today. The Federal Reserve has made a shamble of our economy allowing greed to run wild. Our own government is not protecting its’ citizens, we have abortion and the border that show this. Our own government will not allow its’ citizens to use the natural resources. (Coal, oil)
What lost standard are we looking for? It certainly can’t be the standard of reason, ask any of the politicians in Washington and he will tell you he is “Reasonable”. The standard we have lost is the Bible and God’s Law. We have lost the ability to apply His law. Having lost that it has become elementary in dismantling our “Constitution”. And as for the distant fallen that is easy to figure out. Just measure the distance we are away from God and His son Jesus Christ and you will have that answer. God the father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Spirit, are out of the schools, out of government, the only thing left is for them to be out of its’ citizens hearts. Have we fallen far, I think so.
