At last night Bethlehem School Board Budget Meeting I think one school board member was in favor of a $0 based budget with no increase, while the rest either sheepishly said nothing or one spoke out against the $0 increase and said out-right she would not vote for any budget that had no increase in Spending/Tax increase or had cutting to meet the no increases.  Why even the new replacement for Majewski (VP. of Finance) —said we (The Tax Payers) would have to increase our efforts in supporting the budget. 

There is a new buzz word at the School Board meetings for tax —-”Citizens Effort”—–Folks it is insanity—-My colleagues and I felt after the meeting we had slid backward to one year ago when we started in our attempt to wake-up the school board and try to make some sense of and force a change in the board thinking with regards to spending. 

The one newly elected school board member thinks testing is not the way to rank students and/or school districts.  I told him the BASD ranks in the lower 20% as far as rankings within the PA. school districts and how could you justify pay raises IE: increase funding.  He said, “That testing and ranking was not a true reflection of the students ability to survive.”  I said—WHAT—– WHAT is that supposed to mean—– we are all animals —–and it is the survival of the fittest.  And learning and knowledge has nothing to do with anything.  We are sick FOLKS—-“Big Time”.  He had no answer as to what to put in its place —SO I said why don’t you do away with any and all testing and you would not have to worry about were anybody or anything stands.

Has far as effect of yesterday election of Scott Brown it had 0 (ZERO) effect on anything that when on in the Bethlehem Area School Board Meeting– in Bethlehem Pa.  Absolutely ZERO–nothing.  So folks before you get on cloud 6 or 9 you had better start paying attention to local politics because that is were they are going to bury you in the local cemetery.  They have in the budget a 10+% increase 4.5 mil  and a budget of $212 million—-up 14+ million from last year.  And what they kept coming back to is that spending is man dated by the State or Federal requirements.  WHAT —why that is taxation with out representation the last time I looked.  
Total insanity—- don’t you think??????
