Mike,
I think it is Iran that is calling all the shots when it comes to the Palestinian negotiations with Israel and the U.S.. Netanyahu, in my humble opinion, gave up too much when he gave back the Golan Heights that was taken during the 67 war with Syria. That territory is being used to launch attacks against Israel. How much more land should Netanyahu give up to obtain peace? Abbas has little clout and the Dems don't give a twit about Israel. Carter and Clinton were both anti-Israel and Obama is certainly pro-Muslim. The only reason Obama is wanting peace talks now is is because he knows real trouble could start at any time. He is more worried about Israel attacking nuclear facilities in Iran than Iran developing nuclear weapons. The Palestinian/Israel peace efforts are nothing less than a political sideshow to divert attention away from Iran and Obama's low approval ratings. American Jews are slowly questioning Obama's sincerity about Mideast policy. Here: http://english.golan.org.il/

informed israeli sources claim that once again, as under clinton, israel will be willing to share jerusalem in exchange for only the real recognition for their right to exist, but that might be more than abbas (like arafat) can offer
