Is Smaller Government the Answer?

There is a separation of church and state, but not a separation of God and government, remember the church builds the people and the people build the nation.
All governments have their foundations in religion or the faith of the people. It is the morality of the people, their worldview that is and/or becomes the law of the land. The land becomes what the people have already become. Therefore, the source of the law of a society is the god of that society. If the God of the Bible is the God of the people they will be ruled by Scripture, if man is to be ruled by self (Man) he will fall prey to a small minority who will determine what is right or wrong.
This simple fact of truth is why Paul in his great book written to the Romans chapter 13 can say this in verse 1;
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of
God: the power that be ordained of God.”
The very fact that government is ordained of God and that we have created that government through our religious beliefs and our morality will determine the governments direction and exactly how good or bad it is or will become.
So we have Paul saying this in 13: 2;
“Whosoever therefore resistheth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God; and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”
We are therefore not allowed to resist government as individuals because government is God’s created instrument for the governing of the social order. It is too bad that we individuals have chosen to destroy society through wicked men of government. It is wicked people not the wickedness of government that is to be challenged. What are we to do but take government into our own hands? Taking it and placing the laws of the land as we think them to be placed, in some right order, as we see fit, no, we can not resist God’s government small or large.
Smaller government or large government has nothing to do with the government being wicked or good, smaller or larger government is only an indicator of direction or place. If the government is getting smaller or larger; this has nothing to do with how good or bad it might be. For the size of government should not affect this at all;
Paul’s Romans 13:3 has this to say;
“For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good and thou shalt have praise of the same.”
Verse 4 we have this;
“For he is the minster of God to thee for good…”
Big government rulers and small government rulers are not to be a terror to good works for in both cases small or large government, he is to be a minster of God to thee for good.
So the question becomes how can a direction of getting to and/or going to something smaller IE: smaller government make anything better. Size being smaller may make the item easier to control and manage but one must ask, controlled by what or whom, and you say the people of course, to which I say, if the people be evil it makes no difference of size. The evil people will control smaller government and the same evil people will control a larger government, in either case rule will be evil.
The so called good people as you say by definition may not be good people. Do those so called good people fear God and keep His commandments? (Ecclesiastes 12:13) If so then they might fall into the category of folks that can govern the land and its people; ruling wisely and teaching both the fear of the Lord and His knowledge.
So do not think smaller government is going to be the answer for evil, government will and can be small or large and right now evil within government appears to be getting larger through evil man. We shall see if God is to have mercy on us and send us some good men to rule over us. More so will God show the people the righteous way and open up their hearts to righteousness and Jesus Christ; thereby healing the land.
“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
