Is There Deception?
Apr 29th, 2008 by Randy Toman
My last two postings had to do with what I thought was a deceiving of the people by our elected officials. I thought it necessary to further explain myself as to what I was trying to say with regards to that deception.
C. H. Spurgeon in his comments on Psalms 52: 1-5 had this to say.
“Men can manage to say a great many furious things, and yet cover all over with the pretext of justice. They claim that they are jealous for the right, but the truth is they are determined to put down truth and holiness, and craftily go about it under this transparent pretence.”
All scripture is from the King James Bible.
1 John 3:7
“Little children, let no man deceive you…”
There is a list of effects that will occur if we continue and not understand the danger of this evil called deception. We must not only have discernment of that deception but also know the action to be taken in correcting the deception.
The evil of deception will hinder acquiring the knowledge of God.
Jeremiah 9:6
“Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refused to know me, saith the Lord.”
Deceit keeps people from turning to God, and with that will cause an even deeper separation within the social order.
Jeremiah 8:5
“Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.”
Deceit will lead to lying and tell me we don’t have that with our politicians today. A stretch in truth will go from that, to a smooth stretch and then, to a smooth lie, to a politically correct lie, to their position is right and truth doesn’t enter into any discussion with regards to anything spoken. Decisions do not hinge on truth but deception and positioning. What a downward spiral into destruction.
Proverbs 14:25
“A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.”
We have on all levels mismanagement in government. We have corruption, strong oppression, and lack of justice. Why is this? “… their house is full of deceit…”
Jeremiah 5:25-28
25/ “Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have with holden good things from you.”
26/ “For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.”
27/“As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.”
28/“They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.”
If I didn’t know better I would say Jeremiah must have been in Washington when he wrote those verses.
You know I can hear it now—“Randy get off your high horse.” But it gets worse and how can I get off the horse when the trumpet must be blown?
Psalms 10:7
“ His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.”
And along with all of this we have a hate that is often concealed. They must have special classes that these politicians go to and learn how to smile when caught in a bold face lie. But not to worry the Bible tells us, this will happen and what to look for as it is happening.
Proverbs 26:24-26
24/“He that hateth disembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;”
25/ “When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.”
26/ “Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.”
The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
Proverbs 14:8
“All this folly showes them for what they are fools.”
The approval ratings of our politicians has fallen to such a low estate that anyone that takes any note of life and what is happening must agree that there is something wrong but the question is will the people know what is wrong. The correct assessment of the situation I believe is at a critical point and juncture in history and without the moving of the Holy Spirit and the opening of eyes we in this country within the next 10-20 years will see radical change. And I fear not for the better.
