Jobs? Where?

In the valley, such jobs as the cement mills, the steel industry and the textile industry have all but vanished. The French bought out some of the cement mills, the clothing industry moved to central and south America and the steel industry is more like a ghost town. My sister worked in the clothing industry for 40 years when they shut down. She got smart and got her degree in nursing, but many had no place to go due to lack of good education. I remember the factory she worked in was importing their garments from some island off the coast of Florida and sowing “made in America” labels on without objection for fear of losing their jobs.
The cement mills were polluting the air with cement dust, especially at night, even though they were forced by the EPA to install cement dust collectors on their stacks. At night when no one was looking, they would open the collectors to save cost. The people complained when sweeping the dust off of their porches and sidewalks and the cars would get covered and much of this dust would harden after the dew would wet the car and the sun would come out. I’ll bet many of those same people would rather have those jobs back. My dad was laid off from a plant that welded and maintained the big fuel tankers that traveled the railways.
The point I am trying to make is that too much complaining and government interference with our jobs will only hurt jobs. Our present government is too much into our lives with restrictions, regulations and of course, high taxes. They claim that they are looking out for us! Who today, is stupid enough to believe that?
Many of the jobs being created by the Obama administration are government jobs that are paid for with our taxes and do not create wealth or incentive. Is it any wonder that our government is the largest employer in the country? Not good!
Now for the effects of all this. We are becoming more and more dependent on government for our survival and since the government creates no wealth, our taxes have to increase. The “rich” are being taxed to cover the “poor”. How long will it be before there will no longer be “rich” people? Where will the incentive to produce come from? A look at all Socialist and Communist countries tells us that the government will force the people to produce since not many will have the incentive to do so. This means that the government will be forced to take over production and basically enslave the people in an effort to keep society afloat. This is the scenario in a nutshell. Isn’t it amazing how many people on the left voted for this? This is what happens when the government takes over as they did in our schools and dumbed down the people so they wouldn’t recognize what was really going on.
During the 90’s, when Bill Clinton was running things, he saw the problems of not being able to compete in world markets and also knew that the revenue was not coming in due to loss of jobs and the growing of part time and low paying jobs. Taxes had to be raised and he knew there was a limit to what the people will tolerate. He then allowed his commerce secretary to gather many of our corporate leaders and company CEO’s to fly overseas to China and other countries, to set up manufacturing plants to produce our goods. Prices went down and the people didn’t mind having their taxes go up when they could purchase their goods at one third the cost of goods made here. Bill also knew that this solution would eventually catch up to us but he would be out of office by that time. He was right! That was the real reason he pushed for the signing of trade agreements called GAT and NAFTA.
There was some other agreements Clinton made with foreign countries that we never hear about due to liberal bias in the mainstream media. One big one was the deal he struck with India when he wanted them to stop their nuclear proliferation. This was at a time when India and Pakistan were at odds with one another. What was the deal? Bill Clinton allowed the Indian government to allow many of our technical jobs to be replaced with Indian workers. I personally know of friends who have been laid off because of Clinton’s decision.
Now we are in a different era. We saw what Japan did to our economy, now we have China doing the same thing but 10 times worse. Obama feels that we are a greedy and over wealthy nation that needs to re-distribute the wealth among the poor of our society and also of the world. He and his czars are attempting to do just that and we are allowing it to happen, so far.
Bottom line is that our own government is our enemy and we are the victims. We had slavery in the past and now we will have slavery by the government, all driven by power hungry politicians who believe they know best how we should live. The people are no longer in control and the government is out of control! Remember, many of you voted for this! You can blame others all you want, but don’t blame conservatives. There is a simple reason for all of this! Priorities and moral values are totally rejected by too many in favor of self interests and laziness.
