Mr. Beyer,
I'm sure you will agree that we are not born knowing the difference between right or wrong. We must be taught, just like all other "thought"! Teaching comes in the form of reading, hearing, feeling and even seeing others actions.
Where did you learn about the difference between right and wrong or how to conduct yourself around others? What and who were your models? We all MUST have a foundation to base our beliefs on! Man can not do this by himself. Many terrible things have happened since life began and most by the beliefs carried out by individuals like Hitler and others. Even self proclaimed religious people have done extreme damage to others. There must be a foundation, a "rock" of some rules to live by that can not be changed by mere men. Would you agree?

Where are you meeting these people? I'm an atheist, part of a community of atheists in the valley, and none of us even closely resemble your description. The last thing I want is to have all the trappings of a religion, with its us-vs.-them attitude, early indoctrination, and hatred toward others. You've got a lot to worry about -- don't waste any time fretting over atheists who want to pretend they're religious.
