Pa. Primary Governors Race

In the book “The Sacred Rights of Conscience” Dreisbach & Hall 2009 Liberty Fund.
We have these words:
“If, therefore, something is directed toward an end external to itself, as a ship is to a harbor, the duty of its governor will be not only to preserve the thing itself, but also to guide it towards it final end; where as if there were something with no end outside itself, then be the preservation of the thing itself in prefect condition.”
What is the end? For we are but keepers of and guides to a small piece of history, it is not that we must look to self as the thing in itself but look to what we are given charge of, to watch over that will matter. Will we add to the community as a physician in preserving life or as a teacher who has taught the truth? If it be only self that will matter, then goodness to community and mankind becomes a waste of emotion and of that time, for there is no need of goodness to it.
We must make the same judgment of governments, are they not to direct and guide the ship of state to safe harbors. How is man to direct those governments, if it is not for goodness to community and man? They exist for both man and community, but what is to be the final end of both, if there is neither goodness nor virtue, what is the measure of life worth to that individual and community if they have nothing but power and control over them by evil politician.
The question will come, I predict, if not in this election then very shortly in the future when people will start asking how much goodness does the politician possess, which man is righteous? Which man will truly do me good in the Biblical sense? Is Sam Rohrer the man to do me right or is it Tom Corbett? We are at a cross roads and we shall see shortly.
