Politics as usual
May 16th, 2010 by Randy Toman
For those of you outside of the Lehigh Valley and Pennsylvania, you may find this a little hard to follow but for those of you living and breathing local Lehigh County politics you will, at least I hope you do, find it easy to understand.
“My job is to win elections. Whoever’s handed to me on May 18, that’s who I’ll run with,” said state GOP chairman Rob Gleason.

Why didn’t he (GOP Chairman Rob Gleason) step back from the endorsement process and have that attitude back in February????????
Here is what Lehigh County Republican Executive Director Scott Ott had to say about the process.
What I saw alarmed me — as a Republican, and as a citizen of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The Republican Party is not doing itself any good by putting forth these statement that are beyond being reconcilable. One being deceptively incorrect the other maybe a complete misunderstanding of the situation, in either case, putting the two of them side by side will cause one to question the truth and honesty of what is really going on.
I received a colored brochure in the mail on Saturday that really sounded deceptive at best and certainly like a bunch of propaganda to me. The title of it was “The Lehigh Valley Conservative Quarterly” proudly brought to you by Dean Browning.
I quote from the “The Lehigh Valley Conservative Quarterly”;
“I (Dean Browning) decided to start this newsletter as a way for Republicans in the Greater Lehigh Valley to stay connected and to provide a platform for like-minded folks to share ideas. I also wanted to promote those candidates and elected officials who are committed to converting our conservative principles into effective policies.”
“I plan to send the newsletter on a quarterly basis and I encourage you to contact me with any comments, questions or ideas for future issues.”
Commissioner Dean Browning is Chairman of the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners.
I want to start by saying this; anyone is entitled to publish a newsletter but until I got to the back page, even though it said on the front page “proudly brought to you by Dean Browning” I was left with the impression it was put out by the Lehigh County Republican Party and thought it was yet another way to promote the endorsed candidates. If Dean really wanted to promote ideas and develop a platform for inter-action within the party he would have better served himself and the Republican Party if he had waited until after the primary and then supported the primary winners.
As it stands it was just a propaganda piece put out to support the endorsed candidates by Rob Gleason the State GOP Chairman. Page 3 inside “Dean Browning’s take on Campaign 2010” he features the 3 endorsed candidates Corbett, Toomey, Dent, and Browning chooses to narrow the scope of who is available and not let the citizens know, he ignorantly try’s to deceive the electorate by not letting the citizen know the full slate of candidates. He mentions nothing of the fact the above 3 mentioned candidates have primary opponents.
Why he chooses to start off a newsletter by excluding Rohrer, Lugsik, Benol, especially since he is trying to start a dialog with, I would guess all Republicans, or is it “Like-minded folks he is trying to have a dialog with, there is a difference you know. He has effectively excluded, maybe 50% of the Republicans, that support Sam Rohrer for governor. Another large % of supporters of Peg Lugsik and he certainly didn’t endear the local 9/12 group by cutting out Matt Benol who came out of the 9/12 group.
Now my question to Mr. Browning is; who do you really want to hear from???? Second why would you do this to the Republican Party, waiting just a couple of days would have served the party so much the better and made your efforts so much more “Believable”. As for now it is just another propaganda piece put out by the powers within the Republican Party and you look like just another flunky of the 10th magnitude. What is wrong with you?????? Mailing it on May 19th might have made you a hero but instead you look like a jerk.
We Shall See what you have to say next Quarter.

I was happy to hear that others heads exploded–I thought I was going nuclear all by myself. Browning’s rag is a sad joke and nothing more than self-aggrandizement and an attempt to cram the usual RINO crap down the throats of true conservatives. He’s nothing but a poser.
