Reprobate Mind?
May 6th, 2008 by Randy Toman
The subject that I mentioned in the last article was political debating or the lack of it and the fact that we are being ignored.
In this posting the subject I wish to discuss is, “Reason” and/or the act of reasoning, the thing that we should all have to some degree. Reason gives us the ability to think through and draw some conclusions that are to guide us on the paths of life. With that said I seem to have my reasoning out of sync with the way politicians must be reasoning. Why do I feel that way and constantly tell myself; Boy that is not what I would do, or that is insanity how could they do that.
I’m reading a book called “Blasphemy” 2007 Alan Dershowitz. The book itself I will probably talk about at some later date. For now let me just say it caused me to think much deeper on the phenomena of reason/reasoning. Why is it there seems to be such differences in the thought process of politicians and the average citizen? The citizen will say; why don’t they do this or why are they not doing that, all the time wondering what is wrong?
Saint Paul give us the major part of the answer in his book to the Romans 1:28 King James Bible.
“…God give them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”
Reprobate mind= a mind void of judgment or a mind that is not capable of Godly reasoning.
God will show mankind that reason outside of Him in and of itself will not sustain the making of and/or binding together of man kind, nor will reason give man salvation. Reason will lead to all type of conclusions, but there is no such thing as reason outside of God’s thoughts. There is a process of gathering so called building blocks of thoughts linked together and called reasoning that aid in directing man’s path. But those building blocks called reasoning have nothing to do with what man has created, they are God’s thoughts given to man. It is only in these building blocks that God allows man to think that he is reasoning of his own free will. If God withholds these building blocks called reason, man can only draw conclusions that will fall within a small spectrum of reasoning and it will be called a reprobate mind or insanity. For man to think he has access to whatever building block of reason that he wish is to make man a god. Therefore having the full range of reason is just not possible with man and it can never be. Man will reason as God so directs him and will never realize his inability to step outside of his sphere of given reason. If man does step outside of reason it is because God has given him over to a “Reprobate Mind”.
The closing question must be; how many reprobate minds do we have that are running this country as politicians? Politicians that have minds void of judgment.
