School Choice For The Rich Only
Aug 24th, 2008 by The Outsider
Democrat Major Adrian M. Fenty of D.C. has made a good decision. That decision was to hire a woman by the name of Michelle Rhee to be the chancellor of schools in his city. Rhee is a 37 year old Korean American with a desire to straighten out the public schools, a task that the last 6 chancellors failed to do after much talk about doing just that. I saw her as a special guest of Laura Bush at the 2008 State of the Union Address by G.W.
She at first told the Mayor she wouldn’t take the job until he guaranteed her broad lee-way in her efforts to accomplish her seemingly impossible task. She said: “I see it as a social justice issue–I want them all to be in excellent schools. The kids in Tenleytown are getting a wildly different educational experience than the kids in Anacostia, so our schools are not serving their purpose.” She also states something that most of us know and which is being ignored by the Democrat party: “School choice shouldn’t be reserved for the rich.” I would personally add that school choice should not be available to any politician who opposes school choice, for any reason. That would be almost all the Democrats and a few Republicans. They should put their money where their big mouths are. What about the children? Does any Democrat, other than the Mayor of D.C. care about the children and their future? I don’t think so! Keep them undereducated and they will be dependent on the Democrats for their survival. That is the stark truth! The same old tired excuses about how school choice will take money away from the public schools is all for political reasons, like keeping their power over the “victim” classes they helped to create over the last 40 years.
