The Better Question is?

The following is a quote from “Theological Essays” (1877) W. G. T. Shedd (1820- 1894) chair of Systematic Theology at Union Theological Seminary (1874-1890).
“The stream cannot rise above its fountainhead. The ballot of universal suffrage cannot be purer than the constituency that casts it. And if that constituency become, in the majority, ignorant, vicious, and godless, then the problem of self-government becomes insoluble.”
If we cannot govern self what will happen to the governing body?
This is the problem, we have become just that, ignorant, vicious, and godless. And to have a blind optimism that the correction will come from the ballot box is a fatal flaw and will eventually lead to destruction. I have said and now I think it will be shortly proven that voting for the lesser of the two evils will one day lead to a situation were there will be an accumulation of too many evils and voting for the lesser of the evil will not help in solving or changing the fact that the country is about to be destroyed.
The 2008 election is just that posturing, the choosing of not the best person but we are forced to choose the lesser of evils. The difference between this election and past elections is that statement cannot be denied as it might have been in the past. The question becomes not is this statement true but is the lesser of the evils going to be enough to save this country and if Senator Hillary Clinton is elected President in 2008 is she the lesser of the evils? Or is Mr. Guilliani the lesser of the evils? Or is someone else?
One quick example of the seriousness, and nature of the condition is to look at Pat Robinson endorsement of Mr.Guilliani and ask the simple question, do you think that would have happen 20-30 years ago?
If you think Mr. Robinson would have endorsed Mr. Guiliani, years ago, then I’m wrong and the situation is not desperate. But if you think like me, and say no way would Mr. Robinson have endorsed Mr Guilliani 20-30 years ago, then you must ask yourself, what is the difference? What has changed? If you come to any conclusions, you must asked my favorite two questions, why and what. What is happening? Why is it happening? Do you think any of the people know? Do you think any of the R’s or D’s, in DC, know? Maybe the better question is does anyone care?
