The Chevy Dolt–I Mean Volt
Aug 28th, 2012 by The Outsider
Why would any car company built an electric car that had a 400 pound battery that costs somewhere between $6500 and $7500 dollars? That figure is not known because General motors will not release the true cost of the battery they are currently using. Some are talking about leasing the battery with the car to keep costs down. An article from “Drive On” http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2012/08/gm-suspends-chevy-volt-production-over-slow-sales/1#.UDv4fCudVnE.blogger
“It would be the second interruption in production for the Volt, which can go 38 miles on battery power before needing a recharge from its gasoline engine.”
Let’s see now…….a 400 pound, $7500 battery and a 400 pound engine needed to charge the battery in a compact car that can only travel 38 miles before needing recharge! Hmmm! Someone would think that no automobile engineer or car company CEO could be that stup–er–I mean short sighted and would even think about attempting to put a car like that on the market unless someone paid them to do it! I seem to recollect that our corrupt anti Capitalist president did just that, instead of letting the free market and competition do that. Of course, it didn’t come out of his pocket, it came out of ours! Crony Capitalism hurts all of us and could lead GM to go belly up–again! What were the workers thinking when they voted for Obama and put their trust in the UAW ‘leaders’ (I use that term loosely)? Were they boondoggled? The government investing our money in failure seems to be insanity! Did I say in one of my previous posts that the US is 30th in math and science?

You won’t post this, I know, but I just thought I’d remind you that your buddy Paul Ryan voted for the GM bailout as well as TARP.
Obama specifically pushed GM to produce the Volt. He also wasted billions on “green” energy companies that are now shut down, just like the production of the Volt. The simple fact is that the Volt is a failure just like Obama and most of his policies. Tarp wasn’t a bad idea because most of that money has been paid back by the banks as it turns out. There are many things I don’t like about the repubs but I think Obama is the worst president we ever had in my lifetime. Obama is anti-US and anti Capitalist, yet he gets his campaign money from them and the biggest Capitalists in the US, like the Hollywood crowd and GE. He wants Wall Street to support him yet makes it hard for businesses to survive. If you think the repubs are worse than the dems, vote for the dems. You really only have 2 choices. I voted for Paul in the primary, hoping he would go farther than he did. Even Rand realizes that his dad doesn’t have a chance. Enough voters haven’t woke up to make a difference. We need a revolution by the voters but until then, I have to vote my conscience and that leaves out Obama.
I thought you were referring to the bailout with reference to the Volt. I’m against all bailouts.
Yes, Obama throws a lot of meaningless money at “green” things, in order to try to placate his base. They aren’t too happy about his continuation of all of Bush’s major policies, although other than the bloody wars I don’t understand why.
AS to who ownns the candidates, here’s the sad picture:
Obama:
1 University of California $491,868
2 Microsoft Corp $443,748
3 Google Inc $357,382
4 DLA Piper $331,715
5 Harvard University $317,516
Romney:
1 Goldman Sachs $676,080
2 JPMorgan Chase & Co $520,299
3 Morgan Stanley $513,647
4 Bank of America $510,728
5 Credit Suisse Group $427,560
Come to think of it, if you are going to base anything on who pays for their campaigns, it appears that Obama is clearly the lesser evil.
For those who like evil politicians, that looks like the way to go. For all others you will have to go third party or stay home. I’ll probably write in Ron Paul.
