I don't remember the number exactly, but it is at least 55% Republican.

I don't disagree with all of your arguments, in fact I completely agree that "buying votes" is what is killing this country.  But let's not only pin this on Democrats.  Just as they are being pulled towards entitlements, affirmative actions, abortion rights, etc. the Republican party is being pulled by the religious right - talking mainly about same sex marriage and abortion, and other areas such as yours which would kill public education.

Our 2 party system has lead us to a point where the 15% on each end of the political spectrum (left and right) dictate the political discussion for the remaining 70% of us.  

Instead of talking about those issues that tear us apart, let's figure out how to fix health care and improve public education without tearing apart the institutions that have built this country.</description>
