THE CONSEQUENCES OF LIBERALISM
Sep 24th, 2007 by The Outsider
If we want to know why we are failing as a unified society with good family values, we need to look no further than our public educational system and the people that control it. I’m talking about all public educational institutions, K through 12 and most higher learning institutions as well. The left has had control of public education for many years, probably since the early 60’s. It started as radicalism in our colleges during the Vietnam war and has infiltrated our society in general. So too, has it infiltrated our schools as a result of the graduating classes that were part of the far left radical movements. These people are now teaching in our universities as well as becoming part of our political system in government. Hillary and Bill Clinton are only one example! As a result, “feel good moral relativism” is being taught and from this comes the promotion of devious lifestyles, the “do it if it feels good” attitude and the acceptance of abortion as a human right, with no regard to the rights of the unborn.
The teaching of our history is almost non-existent, causing our youth to have no perspective of who we are and how we became the greatest society on earth. Most of our youth know nothing of our constitution and the sacrifices of our forefathers in the implementing of its principles. When we have to teach “self esteem” to our youth, we must know that we have a problem. Self- esteem cannot be taught it must be earned through work and experience, even though we may have failures. Self-esteem is much like self-respect, it must be earned! If one has no self-respect, they will have little or no respect for others.
As a result, we are becoming closer and closer to love of self, only. This is very dangerous and we are seeing the result of this everywhere we look. We become what we learn by seeing and hearing from a variety of sources, the most important of which is our schools, especially when we are young and our minds are like sponges, soaking up everything we see and hear and taking it to be the truth from our elders. Other sources of learning are from the entertainment industry by way of television and movie theaters. The entertainment industry only cares about money, not good family values. After several generations of subjecting our youth to failing education and entertainment of violence, profanity, sex, drug use and bad behavior in general, we have become much like them.
My wife and I have put our 8 children through private religious schools and colleges (with my single income and her at home) and it is paying off in a big way. We are a very close family and stick together through all the hard times as well as the good times. Two of our daughters are private religious schoolteachers.
So in retrospect, I would have to say, most of our societal problems start when we are very young in the public school system, not being taught the right values to begin with and the parents have probably went through the same failing schools and may not realize the failures until too late. With the left wing of the Democrat party, rejecting school vouchers as a means to finance education for the ones that need it most (minorities, especially African Americans), The high school drop out rate for these groups, will continue to be approximately 50% or worse. The consequences for this will be more crime, higher taxes to build more prisons and to take care of out of wedlock births, which is now about 70% of all black women in the United States. Most of these are not yet, women, most under the age of 20. How much more of this can we take? We MUST start the process of creating private schools to replace the non-competitive, non-disciplined public schools.
The most effective way to do this would be to get the government and unions out of our schools. Neither the government nor the unions are equipped to educate anyone, much less our youth. Private schools cost approximately one half of the average public school and in some cases only one third. The public schools in New York, for example, cost twice as much as most schools in the Midwest of the country. Public schools have police officers as guards, metal detectors, camera systems monitoring student movement in and outside the buildings and some even have lockdown gates on the doors and bars on the windows. The students are “in jail” and the criminals are out running around free! Why do we not understand what is going on in our society as a result of our public schools alone? Most politicians send their children to private schools with bodyguards. These are the same politicians that voted down school vouchers and don’t want the public to have the same education for their children that they have for their children. I believe the reason for that is votes! After all, the poorly educated, will most likely be more dependant on the government for their survival. Who would that be? The Democrats, of course! The Democrats get 92% of all the African American voters and the teachers unions along with the teachers themselves, to vote their way. Entitlements are just another way to entice people to vote for the party that makes the promise of entitlements. Buying votes is the name of the game and they are doing it at our expense. I personally believe our society, is being destroyed by these tactics. It must be changed and the only way to do that is to write to your local and state political leaders. Don’t depend on the media to fight for your causes. They are against you! Remember, you do have the power of the vote. Use it wisely for your children and your country.

Have you ever looked at the registerd party % of PA’s school boards?
I don’t remember the number exactly, but it is at least 55% Republican.
I don’t disagree with all of your arguments, in fact I completely agree that “buying votes” is what is killing this country. But let’s not only pin this on Democrats. Just as they are being pulled towards entitlements, affirmative actions, abortion rights, etc. the Republican party is being pulled by the religious right - talking mainly about same sex marriage and abortion, and other areas such as yours which would kill public education.
Our 2 party system has lead us to a point where the 15% on each end of the political spectrum (left and right) dictate the political discussion for the remaining 70% of us.
Instead of talking about those issues that tear us apart, let’s figure out how to fix health care and improve public education without tearing apart the institutions that have built this country.
