Two types of Robber Barons—”…wrong judgment proceedth.”
Dec 28th, 2012 by Randy Toman
The Robber Barons were convinced there could be no accumulation of great monetary wealth if in fact they worked under the competitive dictates of capitalism and a laissez faire society. The only way these business giants of the industrial era—-the 2nd half of the 19th Century and into the early part of the 20th Century—-thought to gain power and control was by monopoly. Somewhere in that time period they figured out politicians could be their help mate and all they had to do was buy them.
The understanding of what happen up and through the 1945’s (FDR’s time) is critical in our ability to understanding what President Obama and his class of political renegades are doing to the country. (Remember FDR is President Obama’s hero) The ability of corporate American Business to appear capitalistic yet take on the almost complete actions of a Socialist entity has confused the American Citizen, as is seen with the government bailouts and the FED’s with its QE’s releasing money and the buy back of government debt—-with no sane citizen quite understanding the WHY of the debt or what is happening.
We have slipped into such ignorance that we can not analyzes or think through what is happening to us. The”Educational System” has dumb the country & culture down at all levels, so as we understand nothing of liberty—-we see nothing of this transition from what the founding fathers were trying to create and what we have evolved into. Even with the rhetoric of the talk show guys, that does not get us to the answers nor the bottom of the issue—we see nothing of what is happening only the separation of maybe a possible right and wrong in its simplest form—even with that—we know nothing or the true effect of what is happening—–and we can do nothing in the way of changing directions or correction.
The driving out of competition would be denied by the citizen, the reduction of competition would also be denied, eliminating of Laissez faire and the getting of protection for those industrial giants through political action is not seen as evil by the citizens, even as it became critical to those business tycoons and “Robber Barons” and a major focus of them was to monopolize—-through government legislation.
The understanding of the difference between the Socialism/Communism for the people and culture is but a small step to understand what has happen to corporations and the business world. Government will control the people while forcing them into Socialist actions and behavior, even as we call ourselves a Republic under law, all the while business forces their rules and laws to be enacted by the government. Business uses and forces money and debt on to the people as the controlling mechanism for government, all the while government and the people are being used and controlled by the elite of the Business World & Wall Street—–as they strangle and monopolize the arena of competitive business. We have two different worlds, the world of business and the world of the social fabric (the people) both operating with their set of rules with little over lap, as we attempt to understand “Justice” and can’t.
This is a quote from the book by Antony Sutton “Wall Street and FDR” (1975)
“The difference between a corporate state monopoly and a socialist state monopoly is essentially only the identity of the group controlling the power structure.”
We have a serious problems as you might believe, the monopolizing of the various industry’s is working for the for Wall Street and the Business World as they attempt to maximize their control within that Industry and the Government—all the while liberty is slipping away from the citizen, along with his money as it is inflated away.
Understanding liberty and what has happen is essential in addressing the problem. Arguing points of correction will be useless, if in fact the problem is not defined to the degree that it can be isolated, only with isolation and the defining of the problem can we focus on the correction. There can be no correction of policy if in fact, the people, the Congress, the President will do nothing about evil. We have not isolated nor defined the problems (and the Republicans are not about to) therefore evil can not be addressed.
There can be no correcting of the “Educational System” if in fact, there is no acknowledgment that it is failing and/or worse it is teaching a subtle type of evil—–the evil of being ignorant as to what is going on——not knowing their struggling can never lead to correction..
There are now two types of “Robber Barons” one is a Government Socialism & the other a Corporate Socialism who help themselves to our tax money through legislation—–we have a major problem and the people had better wake-up to this fact pretty quick. Because the Republican Leadership will not tell you—–but will instead act as if they know nothing of what is or has happen——nor do the want to attempt to define the problem by framing the argument or telling the citizens the truth. The fact of the matter is all business monopolies start and eventually end up with some type of government legislation allowing business to control that part of their industry. The business buys and sells the politician in DC—while the tax payer (citizen) suffer—–and the problem is so much the bigger now—-because it is now a global affair—-with corruption piling on corruption.
Habakkuk 1:4 (KJV)
“Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedth.”
Note well— “… doth never go forth…” and “… wrong judgment proceeth.” Have we reached that point in the history of America?
We Shall See—–don’t you think?—I think 2013 shall have some unfolding and showing of what is to be.
HAPPY NEW YEAR (2013)

This is a good and thoughtful article. You lost me, though, when I came to the word “Obama”.
Obama is a very very minute part of all of this, and focusing on him leaves the impression that “electing a Republican” will solve the problem. While I understand that is not what you meant or believe, I respectfully suggest that it is counterproductive to blame “Obama” or “the Democrats” or “the Republicans”…all are elements of the rhetorical setup to divert attention from the oligarchy that is stealing our nation.
Yes, the whole robber baron era began again with the fall of the Soviet union…huge amounts of labor from former USSR, and from China, suddenly available…multinational corporations based in USA abandoned the American worker in their race to boost their own profits, salaries, bonuses…jobs were offshored. The Best Congress Money Could Buy accomodated all their wishes to avoid tariffs and other impediments to the destruction of our own economy in favor of the globaloney that replaced it. Pat Buchanan recently wrote a cogent discussion of this very topic. Obama is just a tool, and certainly was not the start of this process. It began decades ago, around the time of the end of the Carter presidency, and into full swing when Reagan was in office. The forces working behind the scenes do all the arranging and implementing, our presidents are only the show pieces and front men. Happy 2013 to one and all. Anything this bad is sure to collapse completely, and maybe, just maybe, with the help of the Almighty, something good can be built from the rubble.
I wonder how many people that write or read the comments on this sight, have goods in their homes made in foreign countries. Those “robber barons” and corporations couldn’t get rich without the people buying their products. We are all part of the problem and partly to blame for wanting more for less (high taxes contribute to this). The other problem is that there are way too many that want something for nothing.
This problem did not start after Carter left office, it started many years ago! My father’s plant closed and moved to the south back in the mid fifty’s. Now they are moving to other countries. Competition makes things better and less expensive but the down side is lost jobs and re-training and re-educating workers. We have NOT tried hard enough to be competitive. Maybe we have not gotten hungry enough! This is mostly the fault of our schools and the unions. The party that benefits the most from this is the Democrats. The last 2 elections prove this! The Republicans lost because they were not willing to give away enough freebies to the “victim” classes that the liberals have helped to create over the last 50 years! The only answer is to get the politicians out of our lives and out of our wallets by shrinking the government. Even then, it will take more time then it took to get us where we are now. The government’s solution is a one world government! They will succeed if we don’t unite and speak up instead of fighting one another!!
cate says:
“multinational corporations based in USA abandoned the American worker in their race to boost their own profits, salaries, bonuses…jobs were offshored.”
How true. That was before the Bush/Obama days. Now they just have their multi-million dollar annual bonuses paid to them directly by the taxpayers.
“Now they just have their multi-million dollar annual bonuses paid to them directly by the taxpayers.”
Who is “they”? How am I paying bonuses “directly” to the multinational corporations? Could you be refering to GE’s Jeffrey Immelt and multimillionairs like him? Let me know who these crooks are so I can boycott their companies and not buy their products.
