Well down the Path?

“Once liberty becomes an end rather than merely a means to an end, a fundamental change in the very definition of Christianity had occurred.”
This sentence appears in the introduction to Pastor Ezra Stiles sermon “ The United States to Glory and Honor” preached May 8, 1783. The book is “Sermons that Shaped America” Edited by William S. Barker and Samuel T. Logan Jr.
It is scary to think that we have happening in these days an alienation of our affection and trust toward the government/country and what it represented. That liberty is now the thing that is beginning to be the focus of the debate within the populous. I had one fellow E-Mail me telling me, we should get rid of it all, the Government, the Constitution and start over again. The values that made this country great and are the bases of our liberty now have to be justified as being creditable and they are not taken as the platform that was the jumping off point of who we were and what we stood for.
I maintain the Constitution and Biblical Law itself is being challenged and therefore Liberty threatened and the very safety of the citizens. Liberty is not liberty in itself but come from standards, which are made up of rules and we as a people in the past have taken our rules from the Holy Bible. Therein lies the problem, the attack is against us yes but it is directed against our rules and the standard that we once choose to have.

Has this to say:
” We need to seriously consider two things: first, God has established civil authorities to execute justice, to established order and righteousness in society, and to provide for common good. He does this in order to provide a peaceable context in which the Gospel, godliness and honesty may prosper.” (Rom. 13:1-7, Ps. 106: 3, Isa. 1: 17, 1st. Tim. 2; 1-2)
Have we not lost God and His son Jesus Christ? Having both thrown out of everything including Christmas, we have “Happy Holidays”.
Have we not lost honesty everywhere, including in Government?
Have we not lost the Gospel witness? Is there not a perversion of separation of church and state to the point that the heathen sit in the halls of power and we cannot think to witness to them?
Is there execution of justice by our politicians?
Now I ask you is any of this true? “IF” it is not, then liberty is safe and there is nothing to worry about. “BUT” if you have any concerns and think maybe what I have said could be true, then, I say we are well down the path of lost liberty and the darkness of destruction is closing in fast.
