What a Problem or is it?

The Christian Community is almost in a state of confusion, if not that, then certainly a situation that raises the anxiety and frustration of the lot. Why, because they do not have a candidate that falls within the guidelines of what they would call acceptable. Is this the problem or is it that the problem goes much deeper. I believe it is much wider in scope and deeper then a quick assessment of; is he Pro-Life? It was at one time the old standby, the candidate is pro life therefore he is acceptable to the Christian Community. This has been, in the past, the litmus test and if the candidate passes that test he is automatically stamped with approval, even if he fails every other test. That is a deep problem and it will surface big time in 2008.
What I have just described was the way I found it to be back in 1991 while active in Berks County politics. The selection and the supporting of a candidate was almost, if not totally an emotion process rather than a Biblical analysis of the candidate’s character and his positions.
This Biblical analysis of today’s candidates is virtually impossible for one would not need to dig to deep and find major flaws in him and the Party’s Slate.
Here are just a few verses from the Holy Bible that we as a Christian nation and its people should be using to evaluate the leaders we elect.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 King James Bible
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for that is the whole duty of man.
This one verse alone would be enough “Fear God, and keep His commandments” to eliminate the whole slate both sides D’s & R’s but let us continue on.
Psalms 2:10-12 King James Bible
10. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12. Kiss the son, lest he be angry, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.
If the first verse didn’t get all of them, then these would have. For what politician is willing to kiss the son? Lest anyone believe I’m being cute let me quote one more verse the first sentence only.
Paul’s great letter to the Romans chapter 13 verse 4
King James Bible
“For he is a minister of God to thee for good.”
With an approval rating down around 11% - 14% and 71% of the politicians constituents not believing what they say even the secular and Atheists know they are not doing us any good. Government is so bloated and in debt and almost to the point were it can’t do any good for anybody. Why, they even botch up the give away programs.
Let me close with this Proverbs 1-7
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
We have elected a bunch of fools and don’t think me to hard on you politicians because I’m really talking to Christians who are bigger fools for putting them down in Washington. We should be really saying, “If the party’s cannot put up a God fearing candidate who keeps the commandments then we cannot vote. And we should be following Luther’s example and how he handle his answer to the king at the Diet of Worms. If you don’t know what he said or did look it up.
I say; should we vote? Because if we don’t they cannot blame us. It is not are job to put candidates of questionable character into office, as a matter of fact we are commanded to put God fearing people in office not Atheist, sexual over active, liars, and people that are going to steal our money and give it to someone else from another country.
So I say; to vote or not to vote, what a problem. Who would have guessed that a privilege (voting) would become such a pain?
