What did the people say?

I heard from “Upstart” and some thoughts with regards to our election results. Guess what “Upstart” is “Hopefully” thinking somebody would be paying attention. What do I say “Nothing” but it would be a welcome change.
I give you “Upstart”
It’s been a week since the Lehigh county municipal election and we are still waiting for the official results.
The races were close for the most part, every vote really counted.
Dean Browning won, he ran on tax cuts and fiscal constraint. Interestingly enough Gloria Hamm and Bill Leiner, also winners, ran on the same platform, claiming Democrat’s were the true fiscal conservatives. While this information was news to me, they won with it and I hope they really mean it. Andy Roman also won re-election, meaning the voters were fairly happy with the job he has been doing. The over all sentiment is that the people want spending restraint. We are tired of tossing our money down the big government black hole.
Jim Anthony’s win over Dan McCarthy told me that voter’s don’t want to elect judges who run on issues, such as open space. Judges are not supposed to legislate from the bench, they are supposed to interpret the law according to the constitution.
As a Republican the returns were a mixture of relief and disappointment. The Democrats would have us think no one wants to be a Republican, or be governed by these principles, yet the voters said something different. D’s ran on some R principles and they won. Last year they ran on “vote for me, I’m not a Republican”. It didn’t work this year, it won’t work next year either, hence the relief.
We lost two seats on the county commissioner level. Allentown mindlessly voted for all the D’s, not considering the strengths of Bob Smith and Mike Schware, hence the disappointment.
Overall, we all want better government. Republican principles sell if only we’d embrace them and govern by them.
Hopefully candidates, elected officials and those who steer the party message will take notice.
