Who will Loose?

The Allentown Police Pension is, at present, quite a controversy. With its’ benefits package being called into question along with the fact it will bankrupt the city. This is a problem of major proportion and of course needs to be addressed but I think there is even a bigger problem. And to my knowledge has not been talked about. Let me make a few remarks before I tell you what I think the bigger problem is with regards to this controversy.
If in fact it is a liability of the magnitude as I hear being told. The previous mayor was in some kind of drunken stupor, totally incompetent, or a fool with evil intentions when signing the contract.
As for the present mayor, when taking office he should have had the police pension fund contract reviewed and if found acceptable he should have had the results of his findings published. This could have and should have put to rest this problem as a no problem but if the finding revealed and confirmed a problem, they could have moved forward in an effort to resolve the problem. And if the solution called for litigation so be it.
The problem today and the liability of the pension plan is a serious problem with the potential to bankrupt the city. If true, a very serious problem indeed, but a far bigger and more serious problem is the conduct of the police themselves and what they are doing to the citizens they swore to protect. This is what I believe is the BIGGER problem.
What they have done is it not the same thing that government is doing to its’ citizens through taxation? Putting the citizen in bondage.
What they have done is it not a form of greed, like unto that which is corrupting Washington, and making our leaders stink to high heaven?
What they have done is it not the same that our state representatives did in the pay raise?
We have on display, with this issue, the very essences/element that is destroying the social fabric, the same oozing filth that is coming from Washington and Harrisburg “Greed”.
This greed is showing every one not only that they have it, but that they would act as a group no different then the bad guys’ they are trying to catch. This group has not only acted in a greedy fashion but has effected the every character and honor of a noble profession. Why would anybody think they could be trusted to help in a time of trouble? Any questionable action on an officers’ part will be viewed with a deeper suspicion now. Isn’t the loss of one’s character a bigger problem then what is being talked about, maybe not?
The issue has taken on its’ on life, with the involved party’s looking only for the position of power and what is a benefit to their cause. We have no one asking what is to be done with the honor of this noble profession and the fine men that server in it. Will not the men involved consider their fellow officers character and what this has done to them and the years they have yet to serve?
