Why did you change your position?

In trying to put together a slate of candidates for Bethlehem School Board, I ask a number of people if they wanted to join the effort and run as candidates (on a Slate) apposing any tax increase. We are talking about the city of Bethlehem, PA. the sixth largest school district in Pa. This must have happen to this person as they were gathering signatures and the lady involved with this candidate must have been pretty forceful with her position and apparently changed the candidates position from no tax increase to were he would consider another position, I hope I have painted a clear enough picture has to what transpired.
This is what I said to the person running for school board
“I don’t believe in balance budget”, ask her how far she is in debt, and then second what kind of premise is that to build an argument on. If you have an unbalance budget it still means you are spending too much and who cares if one program happens to be a good one, you are still going broke, and the program should not have been there in the first place if you are spending to much.
If your position resonated so well with so many people how in the world could you take one out of balanced person with her position and think it was a correct position. Are we becoming so unbalance that being unbalance almost seem to be the correct attitude, and seems to be the correct action to accept. Ask her how she was going to provide for any of her children and give them any kind of future, how the school district and/or the government is going to function if the dollar is worth nothing and we all are in debt up to our eyeballs. Why the Bible gives you, the borrower is servant to the lender how much clearer can the Lord make it.
No the question to you is still no tax increase until they get a handle on and reduce spending to the point we can take the pressure off the Tax Payer. Besides you must not have read anything as to how poorly the schools are functioning and educating the children. The fact that they are doing poorly in both areas, educating the children, and managing the revenues, spending like a bunch of drunken sailors shows they deserve nothing but to be all canned with no questions ask. That is what you should have told the women in the first place along with this; if we don’t get the spending under control the good old USA in going down the tubes. Period end of discussion!!!
If you can’t stand up to one lady how in the world are you going to stand up to Dr. Lewis? You should take the time and go watch him in action at one of the board meetings. Why he eats the board for lunch and intimidates the hell out of all them, leading them all around by the nose. Why they just vote to approve a bond issue that put the citizens of Bethlehem an addition 20-35 million, that’s right I said MILLIONS MORE in debt. The School District deserves to go bankrupt and I would have vote NO and force them to face the music. They are right now 220 + + + +million in debt that should be good at least to the great-great grand children wouldn’t you say. What is wrong with us, we leave nothing but debt?????? and show no leadership.
You know I really don’t know why I get so bent out of shape, it doesn’t matter to you or anyone else how bent I get. And further more at my age I don’t have to many more years to watch this insanity we have going on, and the Lord knows I blew enough trumpet in my lifetime. So not to worry what I say—-I’m just babbling. But I will say ST PAUL says “Quit you like a man.”
