The Apostle Paul in his first epistle to the Corinthian Chapter 1 verses 18-21 says this:
18/ For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19/ For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20/ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21/ for after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believed.
(All Scripture verses quoted from the—King James Bible)
To understand these 4 verses one must understand two words in the opening sentence of verse 18. “Perish” (Strong’s #622) Greek—Apollumi To kill, to destroy. The second word is “Foolishness (Strong’s #3472) Greek—Moria Absurdity—foolishness.
Paul was ridiculed and called all kinds of names and in Acts 17:18 we have the smart guys of the time saying—-“What will this babbler say?” They have no idea that shortly they will be heading for Hell in death if not saved by “the power of God”. It was not only those past intellects who made fun of the babbler but refused to listen with open ears and blew him off as the “Progressive Heathen” do today. They ignored Paul and his preaching to the point they died in their sin.
We have the same condition today—nothing has changed—the intellectual Heathen making fun and ignoring the Gospel, arguing the points of law with what they think is wisdom, reaching absolutely no conclusion of God’s justice along with no correction of anything.
Paul tells the Corinthians what is written—-verse 19.
“…I will destroy…” same word Paul uses in verse 18 “Perish” (to kill to destroy). Paul goes on—What is God destroying?—- “…the wisdom of the wise Heathen,…”. Paul takes the next thought from the book of Job 5:12-13 “—and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
This type of warning is through out the Bible;
“…for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.”
In Jeremiah 8:9 we have the same type of thought:
“The wise men are ashamed they are dismayed and taken: Lo, they have rejected the word of the Lord, and what wisdom is in them.”
Verse 20—“Where is the wise—the scribe—the disputer? God makes their wisdom to be nothingness—through foolishness.
Paul writing through the spirit tells us exactly who is to be saved and why. This salvation opens the door to understanding and true wisdom at and to whatever degree the person is to have this wisdom.
The ruling of the Supreme Court on the Arizona issue showed the people just how ignorant and vulnerable they are to government——having this lack of wisdom. We thought or at least I did, government is to be guided by some wisdom and surely must know to protect the citizen. But we only thought government to be wise and the Supreme Court the wiser body to rule with justice; not so. The Supreme Court was shown just how much contempt the president and the Executive Branch had for it and also showing just how inept Congress is with no corrective action taken on their part. What wisdom was shown or lack there of these last few days is frightening.
The United States for many years has been rejecting and ejecting God from all its’ governing body’s, it is no wonder we have come to this, where the realization of not having any wisdom show itself to be absolutely true. Reasoning with logic no longer can be said to be part of our governing body, for by what reasoning or logic have they done this? The Federal Government can boldly tell the states it is not going to support them thereby leaving the citizens defenseless.
Paul in Romans 1:21,22 told us what to expect.
21/ Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful: but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22/ Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
Have we and our government become nothing but a bunch of fools?
Have we seen???—–Or—-We Shall See—what is to be done—-don’t you think?????
