Words—From our Senators?
Apr 27th, 2008 by Randy Toman
“The smooth, adroit manner of executing a wicked device neither hides nor abates its wickedness. Murder with a sharp razor is as wicked as murder with a meat- axe or a bludgeon. A lie very ingeniously framed and rehearsed in oily manner is as great a sin, and in the end will be seen to be as great a folly as the most bungling attempt at deception.” William S. Plumer 1802-1880
Psalms 52:2 King James Bible
Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
“When any truth is possessed without a corresponding practice it is held wickedly, hurtfully, wrongfully. Then men do not obey it; they are not made better by it. William S. Plumer 1802- 1880
Romans 1:18 King James Bible
For the wrath of God; is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.
Our politicians attempt to deceive us with smooth words. I had said that of Senator Santorum in my last posting “So Will You Vote For Him?” (See below)
We are presently in a very serious mode of culture deterioration and we are being deceived on all sides. I respectfully submit to you that we can no longer use any type of sliding scale to adjust the rightness and wrongness of any issue. Each issue must be evaluated as if it were a life and death decision with an order of magnitude reaching 10.
Why would I say something like that when in reality these lesser issues, if they can be called that, certainly would not call for the drastic action as to put a line in the sand? But, I say they do.
The culture of a society is made up of a belief system of morals and ethics. There is no court of justice with fixed laws that truly make-up a “Culture”. OH yes there are laws such as; thou shalt not kill; with a system of laws to be enforced, but once pasted the basics and one gets into what might be called natural law there is no fixing of attitudes through these so called laws. Where is the fixed law that says we have a right to free speech, tell that to someone in China, Russia, or Cuba? The more important part of that so-called law is the attitude that is in ones heart and mind.
Political correctness, deceitful words and lack of strength of character are being forced together and being called public opinion. This public opinion will change the how you view morals and ethics, which again have no set concrete laws unless you are prepared to have self-conviction and believe in a higher authority. Then and only then will the culture have the stamina and fortitude to withstand public opinion and public opinion will not veer off on some destructive path.
This public opinion made-up of non-binding laws is floating on a sea of culture and this sea is now a raging storm of moral and ethical uncertainty.
To say any one issue is of no importance is to show ones stupidity, elitist arrogance, and one that is a complete fool, an evil one at that. It may have been acceptable in Reagan’s time and for him to say, if a person is 80% of the time with me he is my friend and not my enemy. I would submit to you times have changed and now we do not have the luxury of picking and choosing in that flippant fashion. We now have and/or it is fast becoming a very mixed heterogeneous society of various beliefs carrying with it a public opinions which is changing our morals and ethics from what we once had to what we are about to get. (Maybe already have) If we cannot understand this change we will accept the deceitful words whether they come from Senator Santorum, Senator McCain, Senator Clinton, or Senator O’bama., who should not being saying them in the first. place.
Wake-up America.
